As you can see, this is my first post on this blog. Well, also my first review. We're going to start with Scarlet Weather Rhapsody since it's the first Touhou game I ever played. So, let's get on with it!
Even though Scarlet Weather Rhapsody was my first Touhou game, I have also been putting much of my life in other games, too. But the game I was wanting to complete first was SWR. Well, enough of this, let's start.
SWR is much like Touhou 7.5: Immaterial and Missing Power, but with new characters, BGMs, and etc.
There are a count of 15 Stories to SWR in Story Mode. 2 of them are only unlocked if you complete the 3rd to the last Story (Komachi Onozuka's) in any difficulty, which I will explain later. Unlike duels/battles/fights with a Netplay(er) or the Computer, Story Mode let's the character your playing for the Story can talk with the opponent before the duel and after it. The only time you get to interact with the opponent in normal duels is only at the end of the duel, when you win (same for Story Mode, only when you win.) Here are pictures of Tenshi Hinanai's Story:
(Above, the 1st snapshot is Tenshi's selection for her Story. The 2nd one is when she's talking with Yuyuko, before their duel. And so on after their duel, too.)
Now I will discuss Arcade Mode. In Arcade Mode, you can play as one character, and dueling with almost all the characters, and as always, reaching to win. It's like Story Mode, but the communication is limited like normal.
I will now talk about VS Com/, in this part, I will also mention the HP Bars, Lives, Spell Cards and etc. that you have, well, let's actually start with that, NOW! 8D
As you can see, your/my HP Bar is red, and is on the left. And I'm gonna tell you this right now: there's a difference between normal HP Bars and Story Mode HP Bars! What is it you say? Story Mode HP Bars tend to have 3 lives (the rectangles) and are red instead of just 2 dark/black ones. Of course, every time you take damage, your HP Bar will decrease, sometimes when dueling, it might increase (well, I got that from Touhou 12.3 xD)!
Well, you might notice CLEAR with some 0s under it. The 0s can either decrease or increase, telling when the Weather will end. The Weather? Well it's Clear! Clear can turn into other Weathers, and each Weather has it's own affect (ex.: River Mist can pull you and your opponent apart or together without you controlling your sprite or the computer/Netplayer controlling your opponent).
Every character has their own Spell Cards! Here's where they are!:
(Sorry for my ugly circles, I don't have much time to install my tablet.)
Spell Cards are like regular moves.. But much more powerful than your typical Z/X/C moves! Let's look at one now!:
(Her SC was going fast, so from the right, it was fading.)
As you can see, some of my other SCs were Level Ups and stuff like that, LOL. Oh yeah, and as you use Spell Cards, obviously, you can't use them again unless you refill one of your SC gauges/slots. Some SCs are powerful enough to even drain other SC gauges (only yours, if the powerful SC is yours)!
These are orbs:
I have no idea what they're really called or if they even have an official name, but they can drain as you use Z/X/C Attacks, but don't worry too much, they refill all by themselves fairly quick.
I nearly forgot the controls, xD. You use your keyboard, basically.
Z = Punch/kick
X = Weak Attack
C = Strong attack
S= Shuffle SCs
D = Use SC (the bigger one in front)
A = Press with arrow keys to graze/back-jump/fly
Q = Pause/Quit
Arrow keys = move
VS Player let's you duel an opponent, but your opponent attacks, graze, fly, etc. at the same time as you:
(I was trying my best xD.)
VS Network allows you to duel against a friend :). I never tried it before, but I'm willing to xD.
Practice lets you duel your opponent, but your opponent won't fight back, but your opponent's HP will refill quickly.
Replays! Every Touhou game in mankind has a Replay function which let's you view your past gameplays (only if you say Yes to this question: Returning to title. Save Replay?).
Snapshots:
(I'm sorry for not showing the Replays that I made. It appears that my copy of SWR doesn't have a Replay folder :/.)
In, the Music Room, you can listen to BGMs and other songs from the game, the music is very lovely, so stop by when you need your ears calm:
Now, let me talk about the Result option. Okay, well, since I don't pick this option much, I can't really explain, but here's how it looks like:
In your Profile, you can do all sorts of stuff. You can look at the Deck Construction, which can show the Spell Cards you captured or have, something like that. You can also configure the buttons, feel free to change around the buttons to get you used to everything! You can also make new Profiles, Copy them, Delete them, or Edit their names:
I will now explain Config. Here, you can set the Difficulty, BGM Volume, SE Volume, and etc.:
Well, I guess I'm done. Sorry for getting lazy in the end. To make it up for you guys, I'll send a link to a video that shows an example of dueling in this game. The video doesn't belong to me.
